When I first moved the boat from Christchurch to Poole we
very rarely caught brill or turbot but in recent years they
seem to have become more abundant
and from March to November there is very good chance of
catching these highly sort after fish especially when
fishing on sand for rays and bass.
Turbot and Brill
rigs are very simple just a running ledger 3 to 4 foot trace of
30lb/60lb line depending on the other species that may be caught
1/0 to 6/0 long shanked hook depending on the size of bait.
The addition of attractor beads and spoons can sometimes work,
normally a fish bait is best cut into long thin strips or Sand
Eels are just as good, but Squid will take these fish also.
